Medical doctors and students registered or eligible for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) qualify for SAMA membership.
SAMA has various membership options. To join the Association scroll down, click on the membership category of your choice for a registration form. Please print out the form, fill in your details and fax to (012) 481-2095.
Why join? SAMA membership entitles you to the following:
- Representation for individuals and groups in all matters affecting the profession
- Industrial relations advice, support and representation
- Private practice support, advice and coding support services
- Continuing Professional Development services, including access to advice, information, recording systems and point-earning opportunities
- At least one free subscription to a SAMA journal, including Continuing Medical Education (CME) and the South African Medical Journal (SAMJ), through which you can earn CPD points.
- Free legal advice through our Human Rights, Law and Ethics unit.
- Receive discounts for educational courses through the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD).
- A wide range of other member benefits that are continuously being put in place and communicated to members.
Doctors who have been SAMA members for 40 years become Life Members and are exempt from membership fees. Life members qualify for access to all SAMA facilities and services apart from a free journal subscription. Journal subscriptions are, however, available at a special rate for Life Members who wish to continue receiving these publications.
