SAMA mourns the death of specialist doctor

The South African Medical Association is deeply saddened by the death of Dr John Moche who was killed in a hijacking over the weekend.

Dr Norman Mabasa,Chairman  of the association expressed his dismay at hearing the sad  news saying the death of Dr Moche is a huge loss to his family and the medical fraternity at large.

“The killing of Dr John Moche, a senior specialist dermatologist at the University of Pretoria is yet another sign that as South Africans we still remain held hostage by criminals. This time the criminals have hit where it hurts most, robbing us of our own and robbing the country of a scarce skill indeed,” said Dr Mabasa.

SAMA regards the death of Dr Moche as a stark reminder to our government that crime is still with us.

“It is getting worse than civil war in that victims are certain, it is all of us and we call on authorities to hunt for, find and prosecute the perpetrators of this cowardly act,” he said.

“We would like to convey our sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Moche. May His Soul Rest in Peace,” added Dr Mabasa.
