Signing of Register for Public Sector Doctor

The Kwa-Zulu Natal Coastal Branch of SAMA has had many deliberations with the KZN Department of Health and we are glad to report that an interim commuted overtime policy that satisfies most of member requests has been agreed to.
 
We would like to emphasise that his is an interim policy which may be superseded by a National Policy once this is finalised. SAMA wants to urge members to please assist in ensuring that the KZN Department of Health becomes audit compliant in issues pertaining to the signing of registers as this was the precipitant in creating the current dissatisfaction with the commuted overtime policy. Members need to bear in mind that the signing of registers is required by all public servants in terms of the National Health Act. We would also encourage you to please audit your personal registers for the period 1 April 2017 until 31 October 2017 and ensure that all days on duty have been noted through a signed register.
